Mike Hixenbaugh covers the Virginia Beach school system for The Virginian-Pilot.
Prior to joining The Pilot in March 2011, he worked for three years at daily newspapers in North Carolina, where he covered stories ranging from local zoning scuffles to a suspected serial killer in rural Edgecombe County. He won eight awards from the North Carolina Press Association during his tenures with the Rocky Mount Telegram and the Fayetteville Observer.
He graduated from the University of Akron in 2007 with a bachelor’s degree in communication. He lives in Portsmouth with his wife, son and two beagles.
I’m not sure that a $40 Ponzi scheme is really worth writing about. But that’s just my opinion. Fascinated by these baby deaths. Hope that waffle iron works out.
